Master distributor of carbon steel line pipe in the Houston area seeking a Business Development professional.
- Some experience in the “industry” would be ok but not mandatory and it does not have to be line pipe experience
- A minimum of 5 years of solid Business Development experience will be a major plus
- We have a very unique business model and this person will need to be able to adapt
- They will not need to be a closer per say. On the larger companies they just need to bring it to the table and myself and Dolty can get involved when a large deal is being put together.
- However, they will need to be able to be a closer / decision maker on handling the smaller companies
- They will need to understand the difference in Outside Sales vs Business Development. Business Development will be to completely know the lay of the land in the territory you are covering. Truckers, yards, coaters, mills, field offices (vs just purchasing offices). They will need to know not only purchasing people but build relationships with engineers, accounts payable, supervisors, field personell……etc. Also knowing their other vendors and having a relationship with them can help you get in to a difficult account.
- They will be provided all of the tools needed to find new accounts and will be given guidance on building the relationship with existing accounts.
- I think you already have a good understanding of what we do and who we are….but the big focus is that we provide carbon steel line pipe for the gas gathering market. This includes companies that are drilling and simply hooking up wells to also doing their own gathering and on to companies that do nothing but gathering and processing (no drilling for these midstream companies)
- these individuals will need to be very driven and self disciplined. I don’t have exact numbers yet but their total cost (salary, benefits and other expenses such as office and entertainment) will be calculated and they will be expected to produce likely about 3 times that in revenue to justify their existence.
There would be some travel involved (possibly up to two weeks per month maximum)
